TGIF because this week had to be the longest week this Captain has had in a very long time. Perhaps it's because it was a 4 day week, or because I came back from a long weekend with my girls and had to hit the ground running, either way, stick a fork in me I’m done. Post vacation reality is always the worst, I am finding the hardest adjustment by far this week is the lack of mimosas with breakfast and beers at lunch.

My girl's trip to Halifax was absolutely amazing and I find myself frequently going through the photos from the weekend, looking at them longingly while counting down the days until our trip next year. We took off from Toronto with one mission, to maximize all that the city of Halifax had to offer, and I am beyond thrilled to report that we crushed that goal.

Some highlights included a wild Friday night at a local basement bar with the most amazing live music and dancing. We danced so hard that my whole body felt it the next day. We consumed lobster at literally every meal, and I’m sure I’m still detoxing all that butter and garlic.

Sunday we visited Peggy’s Cove and then hiked Polly’s Cove it was hands downs the highlight of my trip despite not packing the proper footwear. My super cute white sneakers made sure I paid for every sin I’ve ever committed, reminding me that I’m officially too old not to pack supportive footwear. Our tour guide Jamie (or maybe jimmy) was quite the chatterbox and seemed keener on taking in the sights with us rather than keeping his eyes on the road. Thank goodness we are all moms and had the good sense to throw out our arms across each other like a true soccer mom. We all know that nothing will save a life better than mom’s arms shooting across your chest in the event of a crash.

The crew of the S.S Shitshow were wonderful in keeping me abreast on all the goings-on aboard the ship and ensured to tell me daily how much they missed me. My favourite text was from Relic letting me know that the house was quiet but very messy and that he was quickly running out of clean clothes. Bless them, they all showered me with hugs and heaping laundry baskets when I returned aboard the ship.

To return my affections I made sure to create a super fun-filled chore list for the crew to complete on the P.D day today, with a caveat that they were not allowed to leave the ship or make plans of any sorts until it was complete. I am thrilled to report they hated it as much as I hoped they would but did manage to do a mediocre job.

Happy Friday and I hope everyone has a fun-filled weekend of chores for their offspring.
