Captains log

Relic failed cabin checks again last week. When asked why, he told me his room is canvas and he an artist. His medium of choice, textiles.

As a procrastination artist myself, I can I respect a well-curated laundry pile. The time and effort alone that goes into creating such an display is immense. I applauded his commitment to the craft.

The juxtaposition of clean folded laundry, mixed with the dirty on the floor was brilliant.

But The star of the display was a piece titled; The Exploded backpack.

The half open bag was tossed into the center of the chaos, allowing the homework to scatter in the wind like snowflakes. He added drumsticks poking out haphazardly to create depth and texture. The lunch Containers, in varying stages of decay, gave the viewer a multi sensory experience. It’s a powerful sculpture, and not just in smell.

But this is a ship not an art gallery and therefore had some serious work ahead of him.

We will be working on the art of doing your own laundry moving forward
